Sonnet for Midnight Lovers

Sonnet for Midnight Lovers

He whispers gently as she sleeps
Live with me, and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove

In the blue-green eyes of his desire speak
That hills and valleys, dales and fields,
And all the craggy mountains yields.

And he dreams a dream for two
There will we sit upon the rocks,
And see the shepherds feed their flocks,

I will build a home for you
By shallow rivers, by whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.

Sarah, Live with me, and be my love.

She wakes to a tender kiss
There will I make thee a bed of roses,
With a thousand fragrant posies,

And traces his lips with her fingertips
A cap of flowers,
and a kirtle Embroider'd all with leaves of myrtle.

And in his gaze, a romantic look
Sarah, Live with me, and be my love.

She reaches for his passionate caress.
A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;

In his warm embrace, he promises her,
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Then live with me and be my love.

SARAH'S ANSWER.
Harm, In all that I may believe:
If that the world and love were young,
And truth in every shepherd's tongue,

In all that I feel and do:
These pretty pleasures might me move
To live with thee and be thy love.

With all my heart and soul, and with the grace of God above.
